Hello! I am Alex Corrie, a 30-year-old photographer from Pittsburgh.

I began practicing photography in 2014, the summer after I graduated high school. Playing sports in college was not an option after a couple hockey-related shoulder surgeries and I felt it was too late to learn an instrument. My dreams were dashed. I had to find a new pursuit. The goal was not yet to start a business or stunt on social media, so I followed my heart.

I noticed my parents enjoying the process of taking photos, printing them out, hanging them up, even curating a photo-wall. It seemed easy enough, so I did the classic thing: I took a late-summer trip up Mount Washington to snap photos with my iPhone. The photos turned out alright and I made my first print. The most surprising thing was that I felt really cool doing it. Creating an image out in the world with the intention of printing at home generated a flow. It may not seem like much but it turned out to be momentous. I dug dad’s old Pentax camera out of the closet and off I went to college.

That initial feeling of discovery has stuck with me over the years. Though sometimes I make an effort to remember how magical the practice of photography really is. It’s some kind of miracle and yet also a simple process. When I tap into that energy I find there is almost always a picture to take.

Photography has lead me to meet people and explore places that old me could not have imagined. It has given me a creator’s perspective, allowing me to live out a version of my dream. I plan to continue the process of learning, teaching, and evolving with my craft forever.

Nowadays I live and work out of a travel trailer in Washington State with Kalyn and our two cats Mushu and Freyja. I am focused on creating wall art and expanding my subject-matter. I am open to all kinds of work but still the work I enjoy most is sports and music-based photography. I would love to do this full time. I am open to work in the PNW and also willing to travel back to Pittsburgh for special opportunities. Please feel free to reach out.
